Today, Darcys kick off the holiday season with an original Christmas song, “Another Log On The Fire”, available to stream and download everywhere on November 24.

Written, recorded, and produced by Jason Couse and Wes Marskell, “Another Log On The Fire” offers Darcys fans a new holiday classic. Mixed by Matty Green (Coldplay, Rhianna, The Weeknd, DUA LIPA), the track is a genuine seasonal earworm about giving that special loved one the perfect gift this Christmas.

“We were considering releasing a Christmas cover this year when we thought it would be more fun to created something original,” says the band. “It’s a pretty simple concept: who doesn’t want to keep the fire burning a little longer this Christmas?”

Darcys are a JUNO Award and Polaris Music Prize nominated pop duo and production / songwriting team from Toronto. Never shy of taking a risk, Darcys have released three original albums, and a reworking of Steely Dan’s classic “AJA”, and a 20-minute southern-gothic themed instrumental based on a Cormac McCarthy novel. Most recently, Darcys released a transformative road trip record, Centerfold. Lush with vibrant synths and funky bass, the album feels as at home in 2017 as it would in 1986.

ARTS & CRAFTS ANNOUNCES SUMMER CONCERT SERIES IN PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY

DAN MANGAN, DARCYS & REUBEN AND THE DARK TO PERFORM AT THE HAYLOFT DANCEHALL

 This summer, beloved Canadian indie label Arts & Crafts will bring some of the best of its roster to Prince Edward County, one of Ontario’s most celebrated vacation hot spots.
 
Fresh on the heels of Field Trip, Arts & Crafts’ downtown music festival and the unofficial kick-off to the summer, the label has curated a series of concerts on the picturesque island two hours east of Toronto to keep music fans busy until the fall. The series will take place in the refurbished barn-turned-venue, Hayloft Dancehall, nestled on the southern tip of the county beside Sandbanks National Park.
 
The series, running from June to August, will include performances by synth-pop duo Darcys, kicking the dance party off with retro-tinged tracks like “Miracle” from their latest album Centerfold. Two-time JUNO Award-winning songwriter and honey-voiced, folk crooner Dan Mangan will perform fan favourites and test out new material planned for his follow up to 2015’s Club Meds. Finally, Reuben And The Dark will close out the summer with the soaring pastoral folk-rock from his 2014 debut Funeral Sky.
 
Ontario's Prince Edward County (PEC), long known for Sandbanks Provincial Park, has become a tourism hot spot as the VQA's newest wine appellation and, more recently, a cultural hub with stalwart Toronto venues The Drake and The Dakota opening new ventures in the region. Only a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa, PEC is a weekenders paradise with countless wineries, crystal blue waters, diverse dining experiences, and a variety entertainment options. No strangers to the road, next week Darcys hit the pavement with tour dates across North America, and today they roam through the American West in an El Camino in the new video for “Arizona Hwy” courtesy of NPR. “We've always been taken with the kitschiness and heroism of the great American road trip,” says Wes Marskell. “It's hard not to be seduced by the freedom and redemption of driving the American West. So, instead of staging a music video we filmed a joyride through the stunning natural backdrops, campy motels, and cheap roadside attractions that make the highways of Southern California so iconic. It's hard to tell where reality begins and ends in this buddy comedy, but it's clear that the aging blue Chevy El Camino slowly emerges as the films' true star.

“Arizona Hwy” single will also feature Jason Couse and Marsksell performing a cover of Prince’s “Kiss” on the B-Side. The single is set for release on May 26 via Arts & Crafts. Full tour dates can be found below.

Last fall, The Darcys released their third original studio album, Centerfold. Exclaim! called it “infectious, retro-tinged electro-pop”, while Clash hailed it as “an outlandish exploration of pop ambition.” Guided by Grammy Award-winning producer Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Weezer, Lucius) Centerfold evokes the heat and wanderlust of the stays in New Zealand and Los Angeles where it was recorded. Centerfold followed 2013's acclaimed Warring, which earned JUNO Award and Polaris Music Prize nominations.

“Arizona Hwy” follows Centerfold lead single “Miracle,” which Complex, championed as a "transformative, radio-ready, near-perfect earworm."
