Looking back at 2016, it’s been a pretty damn good year for Pack A.D. In August, the duo released their latest album, Positive Thinking, to critical acclaim in Canada and abroad. Pop Matters claimed the album is “honest, brazenly unbashful, and their strongest work to date,” while Billboard Magazine added the “hooks on hooks” of Positive Thinking to their Best Albums Of 2016 (so far) list. Across the pond, Gig Soup claimed “The Pack A. D. are a band that truly proves that what is needed in a rock is raw talent.”
Here in Canada the album hit the charts hard, landing in top 10s across commercial and college radio waves everywhere. The record hit #1 on !earshot’s National Chart and stayed in the Top 10 for 16 weeks, while the first album single “So What” hit #1 on CBC Radio 3 and second album single “Yes, I Know” hit #1 on The Verge’s Grocery List. The Vancouver Sun called Positive Thinking “the band’s most powerful album yet.” Throughout the fall, the Vancouver duo took to the road with successful tours across Canada, the US, UK, and Europe.
Now, just in time for the holidays, the Pack A.D. are wrapping a great year with present for everyone. Fans can download their new Christmas single, “Coconuts” for free.

Out now via Cadence Music, Positive Thinking is all carefully constructed chaos, crushing vulnerability, and massive swagger. Underneath the sprawl of its sonic infrastructure, singer/guitarist Black and drummer Miller — self described lifelong high school outcasts — traverse the hidden tunnels that connect all us damaged people together: anger, alienation, humour, sarcasm, sincerity, loneliness, grief.
Engineered by Jesse Gander (White Lung, Bison, Japandroids) and mastered by Heba Kadry in Brooklyn’s Timeless Mastering, Positive Thinking isn’t a total overhaul of the Pack A.D. everybody knows and loves. But making this album—it was a reinvention, an old-school reckoning, and they’re better for it. We’re all better for it.
