Today, Geoffroy announces the deluxe version of his colourful 2024 LP Good Boy. Arriving September 13, the expanded LP features three previously unreleased tracks including single “No Calls Before Noon”.

The LP features reimagined artwork by LA artist Old Sweaty, and was digitally retracklisted by Geoffroy to highlight his favourite tracks, to create a new listening experience that adds depth and weight to the original product.

“No Calls Before Noon” is accompanied by a beautiful Alex Dozois-directed video, shot with Geoffroy over a month in Vietnam and Thailand. The visual captures the mood of the song masterfully, a romantic melancholy that’s been at Geoffroy’s side since childhood.

“I've always been drawn to new destinations and meeting new people, homesickness has been a familiar companion,” Geoffroy explains. “‘No Calls Before Noon’ captures the feeling of complete belonging that strikes when you're travelling in a foreign place, yet somehow it feels like home. It's about that moment when you realise you're exactly where you're meant to be - in time and space.”

MORE ABOUT GEOFFROY + GOOD BOY
Geoffroy is an essential and emerging voice in Canadian music. Now three LPs into a career that has solidified him as one of Quebec’s best artists, the Montreal-born songwriter and producer takes the next step internationally with the release of fourth full-length Good Boy.

Almost 10 years removed from his first release, this project was sparked with the intention of creating Geoffroy’s most authentic work to date, blending organic instrumentation and electronic elements into a bright and rich album filled with diverse sounds, a collection of songs that moves beyond the brooding depth that has defined recent works.

Each past album that Geoffroy has released reflected a different tone and period in the artist’s life and his evolution and experimentation with different sonic palettes. In this case, Good Boy sees Geoffroy look back and collaborate with longtime production partners Clément Leduc and Gabriel Gagnon, but also incorporate a diverse collection of new background musicians and singers that brings the album to life in vibrant colour.

That diversity was driven by a gradual shift in Geoffroy’s influences, having spent recent years immersing himself in the worlds of cumbiamusic and a range of other latin and african rhythmic styles, that melded with his traditional singer-songwriter form to create something that feels truly international.

In fact the record’s narrative was inspired by a trip to Mexico where he befriended - and ultimately adopted - a shelter dog named Papi, bringing him from the streets of Mexico City to Montreal. Papi serves as the mascot for the LP, but more importantly acts as an overarching metaphor for being lost, but ultimately found.

Asked to reflect on the change in perspective that accompanied the transition from his previous musical era into this one, Geoffroy spoke to the clarity he experienced in terms of his own agenda in the creation of music.

Live Slow Die Wise had a slower pace and I was eager to step away from the nostalgia and melancholy I had visited and analyzed plenty in the past,” Geoffroy reflects. “I did what felt natural, a feel-good album (I think) that shed the weight of the other ones. I feel I’m getting closer to the sound I’m looking for, though I might be chasing something that’s faster than me.”

Tomorrow, Montreal artist Geoffroy will release his fourth studio album, Good Boy, however today he’s sharing the new video for “Early Morning Sun”, a track which he considers to be the “the heart of the album. It recounts the trip I took to Mexico City in April of 2022, where an unexpected encounter with a 2-year-old dog named Papi completely changed my life,” he explains.

“While staying in Roma Norte, just minutes away from Parque Mexico, I stumbled upon a weekly pet adoption event. Amongst the litters of puppies, I saw Papi, sitting there, waiting, looking lonely. I tried taking him for a walk but he didn’t want to steer away from the shelter lady. I didn’t force anything, took a few pictures and left. No other dog there caught my attention or interest. But this one invaded my thoughts for the next few days, to the point where I had a hard time fully enjoying my vacation. I kept thinking about whether or not I should take him home with me. I’ve always wanted a dog...but was I ready? Would I give him a better life? Fuck. Maybe.

The day before my return, literally, I texted the lady from the shelter and told her I would take him, if she could bring him to the airport and meet me there before my flight. She was to bring the dog with a travel cage, a leash and a little homemade jacket. I had pulled the trigger but still a bit on the fence about the whole thing. But I followed intuition. I got to the airport and waited for them to arrive. They got there late. Because of that, I missed my flight home by a few minutes. But as fate would have it, a kind manager at AeroMexico understood our story and graciously got me a new flight without charge. My new amigo flew in his cage, checked-in underneath me. I found him petrified when I got my luggage at YUL. We went straight from the airport to my cottage and slowly got to know each other. Fast forward two years, and he's not just a pet – he's my sidekick, my best pal, and makes me smile every day. Adopting him was hands down one of the best choices I ever made.”

GEOFFROY SHARES SECOND SINGLE / VIDEO, “HOTEL BED”, FROM UPCOMING LP

Photo Credit : Alex Dozois // DOWNLOAD HIGH-RES

Today, Montreal artist Geoffroy is sharing the second single from his upcoming LP, Good Boy. "Hotel Bed" is a romantic, colourful, and celebratory song that highlights the international sounds featured throughout his fourth full-length record.

Once again, the perpetual saga of relationships unfolds," Geoffroy explains. "'Hotel Bed' follows the story of a girl who, tired of her new partner's indecision and conflicting messages, reaches her breaking point."

"I began crafting it on the piano at my cottage and through numerous studio sessions, it gradually transformed into what you hear today," he adds. "The music video features ‘Remesha Drums’, a group of drummers originally from Burundi. The drums they play on are called “Ingoma” and are made out of a specific type of wood that can only be found there."
