Multiple JUNO Award and Polaris Music Prize nominee Donovan Woods’ new album Both Ways, out April 20 on Meant Well, unfolds like chapters in a book of short stories. An eclectic mix of settings, characters and experiences are featured on the album, like on his latest release “Truck Full of Money”, whose lyric video is out today.
“Truck Full of Money” explores a musician’s conflicted life on the road – romanticized, lonely, content and pensive – written out like the inner dialogue of a man far from home and behind the wheel. Like a 3-minute, 50-second novella, the song’s narrative illuminates the much broader, unsettled feeling of longing we all experience as we try to find our place in the world. The lyrics are backed by an epic production and strings section that call to mind a truck rolling through the prairie.

Recorded in Toronto, and produced by James Bunton, Both Ways is a 12-track collection of songs which excavates the mines of the human experience, highlighting specific, poignant moments both big and small.
“Truck Full of Money” follows previous single “Burn That Bridge” which explores the beautiful risks someone takes when they fall in love with their best friend. The music video, described by Billboard as “absolutely gorgeous,” features two male dancers whose flowing choreography mirrors a blossoming love affair, adding a twist to the already powerful song.
