NEW EMOTION EP OUT OCTOBER 12 VIA ARTS & CRAFTS
ON TOUR ACROSS NORTH AMERICA THIS MONTH WITH THE DIRTY NIL
"’Bones’ is anthemic, taking colossal melodies and intertwined guitar leads, and pushing it all ever upward, aiming their burning chord progressions and harmonies straight toward the sky.”
- Post-Trash
"Impossibly hooky song, which might be the band's best work yet." - Exclaim!
"90s era grunge/alt-rock...similar to something you might have heard on the indie stations back in the late 90s." - Austin Town Hall
Hailing from Gabriola Island, Dead Soft is a four-piece rock band making playful, melody-driven grunge punk anthems. Today, the band debut their latest single "Bones" from their upcoming EP, New Emotion, out October 12 on Arts & Crafts.
Dead Soft Bassist/Vocalist Keeley Rochon says:
"This EP truly showcases us approaching the recording experience for the first time as a four piece and seeing what opportunities that afforded us sound-wise. “Bones" is us really flexing those new muscles in a big way - duelling guitars, heavy-hitting drums, and a wild crescendoing outro of cascading vocal harmonies that came together in the studio like a miracle."

Dead Soft's New Emotion EP features five catchy, earnest fuzzed-out rock songs that act as an empowering reminder that you are in control of your life, even when life feels out of control. The EP symbolizes renewal and growth.
Last month the band released the video for trippy punk banger "Down", the second official single. The video was filmed with a VHS camera on Gabriola Island, BC over the course of one evening resulting in some fun and oddly ethereal images that capture the mood of the song.
Nathaniel Epp described "Down":
“The song is kind of about the flukey and fickle nature of being. How we're all trying to live based on some perception of the world or of our own reality but over time our perceptions change and its all pretty random and it can be kind of sad but also funny and beautiful depending on how you're feeling that day."

The band's first single "Kill Me" is about the ending of a personal relationship, trying to destroy an unhealthy state of mind and adopt a new one. It's about kicking someone out of your heart, clearing out the psychic space they took up, and offering them an invitation to do the same.
