“There’s a serenity to the music of HarpAcash & the Morals, an indie folk-rock trio hailing from Barrie...perhaps it’s time to take a closer look north of the 401” - The Globe & Mail

HarpAcash & the Morals are celebrating next week’s release of their upcoming LP, Lamps, by letting audiences stream the entire album a week ahead of schedule. Due out on September 23 via Latent Recordings, Lamps was recorded with Michael Timmins (Cowboy Junkies) at the helm in studio. Lead vocalist HarpAcash, guitarist Todd Jeffrey, and drummer Dan Trickett gathered to record the heartbreaking harmonies, graceful guitars, and the idiosyncratic minimalist percussion that forms the album.

Hailing from halfway between Canada’s largest city, Toronto, and the lakes and forests of cottage country, Barrie, Ontario’s HarpAcash & the Morals utilize their surroundings to create a unique style of indie folk-rock that combines the tension of the former with the peacefulness of the latter.

It was after supporting the Cowboy Junkies on a string of dates that Michael Timmins was impressed by the trio. “Their music pulled me from backstage and compelled me to listen,” says Timmins. “HarpAcash's vocals alone are a force of nature, but joined with Todd Jeffery's angular song structures and Dan Trickett's powerful, multi-dimensional drumming, their music becomes wholly original."

HarpAcash & the Morals recorded their first EP, Music Tree Life Understanding, in 2012 with producer Steve Singh (Ron Hawkins, Brendan Canning). They followed it up by taking to the road with Elliott Brood, The Strumbellas, and the Cowboy Junkies, and secured a residency at Toronto’s Cameron House. Recently the trio also released a series of videos, live in studio, recording a few covers for the Latent Uncovers project. Premiering recently was the trio’s take on Justin Bieber’s“What Do You Mean” joining its versions of Jon Belion’s “All Time Low”, Drake’s “One Dance”, Cowboy Junkies “Blue Moon (Revisited)”, and Justin Biebers’ “Love Yourself”.
