Brendan Canning, founding member of Broken Social Scene, today is sharing his upcoming solo album, Home Wrecking Years in its entirety via Spin. Out August 12 via Arts & Crafts, the album contains first single “Book It To Fresno” which Stereogum called a “melodic pulse pounder” as well as the “truly pop” and “airy summertime grooves” of “Keystone Dealers” as noted by The A.V. Cluband Exclaim!. Revealed last week by Brooklyn Vegan was the “especially gorgeous vocal harmonies” of “Vibration Walls.”
Home Wrecking Years is the Toronto songwriter’s first full band recording since Broken Social Scene’s Forgiveness Rock Record. Big guitars, loud drums, swooping melodies, alluring keyboards, free-form feedback loops, are all in abundance and the record features guest appearances from BSS members Sam Goldberg and Justin Peroff, as well as The Stills/Kings Of Leon’s Liam O’Neil.

Broken Social Scene, recently played their first full shows in a few years at Pitchfork Festival in Chicago and Panorama Music Festival in New York City, treating fans to old favourites, new music, and a couple tracks played from Canning’s new collection. Broken Social Scene has announced they are back in the studio working on new material.
