“a modern evolution of surf rock, with trance-inducing jangly guitar chords, Walrus just might be your next favourite group” CBC Music
“sweet and loose … pulls a lot of tricks from the Beatles’ late-60s psychedelia, but filters it through a 90s-indebted love of six-string heaviness” NOW

It’s been a busy spring and summer for Halifax psych-rockers Walrus. In April the band hit the road with Wintersleep and Evening Hymns, and released their latest EP, Goodbye Something, on Dan Mangan’s Madic Records. The four-piece also performed multiple times at CMW and NXNE and recently finished up a string of dates in Quebec and the East Coast.
Now they are back on the road beginning with a show this evening in Montreal during Osheaga and will crisscross Central and Atlantic Canada for the duration of the summer sharing the stage with the likes of Wintersleep, Alex Calder, Matt Mays, Plants & Animals and more as well as making an appearance at Supercrawl in Hamilton. Not ones to rest for very long, Walrus will then head west in the fall with stops in Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and more. All tour dates are listed below.
Halifax’s Walrus channels their inner psychedelia with songs that range from trance to surf. Exclaim! writes that “the band somehow mix gentle, Brian Wilson vocal melodies and orchestrations with out-of-the-blue punk thrash parts that keep listeners guessing. The high, winsome vocals and chiming 12-string Rickenbacker certainly conjured late '60s cloudy folk-pop, but the rest of the band infused the songs with sharp edges.” Their music will adhere to all levels of inebriation or consciousness. Walrus takes you swiftly into a dream you'll find yourself never wanting to wake up from.
True DIYers, throughout the last two years Walrus has played over 200 shows in clubs, dive bars, garages, and houses in the U.S. and Canada with the likes of July Talk, Will Butler, Tokyo Police Club, Buck 65, and Zeus.
