After a successful tour throughout Germany last year, Federal Lights is ready to hit the road in Canada beginning February 26. To get a glimpse of the Winnipeg five-piece in person, fans can watch them perform “Amelia” from their upcoming album Coeur de Lion live in studio. Full tour dates can be found below, with more dates to be announced shortly.
Set for release on January 29 via Aporia Records, Coeur de Lion finds a sense of beauty by examining the gravity of everyday moments. A song might be about riding transit and overhearing a kid say something obvious that feels profound; it might be about experiencing the harder edges of city life and the emotional toll that can take. What ties their songs together is hope – in even the most haunting songs there’s a morsel of it. “I find it uplifting that there’s some hope in the saddest of situations,” says frontman Jean-Guy Roy.
Produced by Rusty Matyas (Imaginary Cities, Sheepdogs), Coeur de Lion travels through points of pressure, regret, solace, anticipation, and disquiet, without ever losing sight. The album follows up We Were Found In The Fog, which won the Western Canadian Music Award for Aboriginal Recording Of The Year.
