OURI - “QUIET DRUMMING”
LABEL :
LIGHTER THAN AIR

Montreal-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Ouri shares a new single “Quiet Drumming” featuring Japanese Canadian musician and frequent BadBadNotGood collaborator Jonah Yano. The new single showcases Ouri and Jonah’s stunning vocals weaving seamlessly amidst an expansive sonic landscape. Ouri shares about the process of working together, “When I had an afternoon with Jonah in my studio last summer, I knew that the music we made couldn’t feel like fiction, it had to feel like a documentary of that moment. We naturally went for an epic longing, his beautiful folk touch and my explosive production met in the middle.”

The new single follows her previous track “Baby Has A Frown” which pulled from her background as a cellist, harpist and lover of reimagined dance music. Ouri recently wrapped her North American tour with fellow Canadian artist Charlotte Day Wilson as well as her dates with Patrick Watson across Europe. The new singles come after her highly praised debut album Frame of a Fauna was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and follows her bt002: self-hypnosis tape and joint project with Helena Deland titled Hildegard, which Pitchfork hailed as, "pure creative symbiosis." Since the release of her debut album, Ouri has also toured across North America with celebrated artists including Yaeji, Tirzah and Smerz.

Born Ourielle Auvé, Ouri was raised in France before moving to Montreal at the age of 16 with dreams of becoming a composer. As Ouri developed her compositional ability as well as her production and vocal chops, she integrated herself with late-night DJ sets in Montreal's underground rave scene and was eventually selected to take part in Red Bull Music Academy's Montreal Bass Camp. From there, her profile began to grow as she headlined Boiler Room's Montreal showcase and toured with the likes of Yves Tumor and Jacques Greene.
